The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2006 will be held in Bucharest, Romania on 2 December 2006. It's the fourth Eurovision Song Contest for young singers aged 8 to 15, organised by the Romanian national broadcaster, TVR. For the first time there is a boycott by the Scandinavian countries. Denmark, Norway and Swedish broadcaster SVT are withdrawing from the contest to stage a Scandinavian contest, like in 2002, in Stockholm, Sweden. However, Sweden will still participate, with commercial Swedish broadcaster TV4 supplying Sweden's entry (this means that Sweden will participate in both contests).
